The North Carolina Department of Transportation has awarded a $2.1 million contract to repair a road in southwestern Wake County.
On Tuesday, officials with the NCDOT announced the department had awarded a contract to Ralph Hodge Construction Company to replace a failed culvert and relocate a waterline on Olive Chapel Road.

Heavy rain in August caused the culvert that carried Beaver Creek underneath the road to fail.
Officials said work to replace the culvert will begin this month.
Olive Chapel Road is expected to reopen to traffic in February 2026, though officials say construction activities will continue into the spring.
The project also includes replacing the old drainage pipe with a new aluminum box structure to improve water flow efficiency and reduce the chance of future flooding.
Drivers should continue to use Apex Peakway, West Williams Street or N.C. 55, U.S. 64 and Kelley Road as a detour until the road reopens.
