NC husband and wife charged with taking taxpayer money

A North Carolina couple is charged with taking taxpayer money after a state investigation found irregularities in their records.

The North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services requested an investigation after finding inconsistencies involving state government employees Elizabeth Gayle Heath and Brandon Lee Heath.

Elizabeth Gayle Heath, 40, is charged with felony obtaining property by false pretenses. Her husband, Brandon Lee Heath, 43, is charged with felony conspiracy to obtain property by false pretenses.

Both have made their first court appearances. The court will set dates for both cases.
