An Atlanta man faces felony charges after authorities said he used his position as a certified nursing assistant to steal the financial information of a Pittsboro man under his personal care.
Jacorey Howard, 35, is charged with eight counts of felony obtaining property by false pretense, eight counts of felony exploitation of an elder, four counts of felony larceny, five counts of felony computer fraud, one count of felony identity theft and one count of misdemeanor larceny.

In late March, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office began investigating allegations that Howard fraudulently used a victim’s credit cards to make unauthorized online purchases while employed as a certified nursing assistant providing daily care.
Investigators said Howard took advantage of his position of trust to access the victim’s financial accounts, conducting multiple transactions for his own benefit. He is also accused of taking two phones belonging to the victim and using them for personal purposes.
Authorities have yet to set a court date for Howard.
