The search for a Virginia man who authorities said fired shots at a woman while driving is over after authorities arrested him Monday night.
Special agents with the Virginia State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrested Charles Stokes, who they said shot a woman on Sunday afternoon while she was inside a car in Lunenburg County, Virginia.

Police said Stokes fired into the vehicle as part of a domestic incident before driving away. The woman was taken to the hospital. Stokes, 44, has a part-time role with the police force in Kenbridge, a town in Lunenburg County.
Authorities said they arrested him at a home in Kenbridge, Virginia.
Authorities believed that Stokes had initially escaped in a black Toyota Camry, which was recovered later on Sunday at Brocklyn Hauling in Henderson.
Another vehicle, a 2007 silver Honda Civic with Virginia plates TGL 9143, was also reported stolen from the same location.
"He knew the car he was driving - the Virginia authorities were looking for it," said Vance County Sheriff Curtis Brame. "When he came to Henderson, he exchanged cars."
Stokes worked for Brocklyn Hauling for eight years, according to ownership.

Stokes was charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Stokes was off duty at the time of the shooting.
There was no information provided by police about the injured woman's condition.
