A former Greenville officer faces additional charges centered around child sexual abuse material, the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation announced.
The SBI’s investigation expanded, which resulted in the new charges against Dominic Michelo Olivares.

Investigators are asking for anyone who has concerns about interactions with Olivares to call 919-662-450.
In September 2025, authorities arrested Olivares in Fuquay-Varina. The Greenville Police Department confirmed that Olivares was a former patrol officer who was employed from May 2020 to August 2021.
On May 27, 2021, the Greenville Police Department received a complaint against Olivares, citing potential criminal natures to the allegations. As a result, the matter was referred to the SBI the following day. Through Greenville police’s internal investigation, the department let Olivares go on Aug. 5, 2021. He has not been employed with the department since.
The arrest warrant stated Olivares "unlawfully, willfully, and feloniously did photograph, record, film, develop, duplicate material containing visual representation of a minor engaged in sexual activity."
Greenville police stated that the SBI's investigation revealed the images in question were found on Olivares' personal devices. The department clarified that during his employment, he did not serve in a unit that investigated crimes against minors or have access to related case files or evidence.
The GPD stated, "We hold our officers to the highest standards and will not hesitate to take decisive action when those standards are violated. Just as we strive every day to build trust with our community, we are equally committed to holding accountable anyone who betrays that trust."
Olivares was initially charged with:
- Two counts of first-degree sexual exploitation of a minor
- Three counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor
- Three counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor
