Contractors for the N.C. Department of Transportation will have rolling roadblocks on the eastbound side of the road as crews install new overhead signs for the Interstate 440 improvements project.

The closures and roadblocks will affect westbound Western Boulevard between Chaney Road and I-440, weather permitting. Traffic will detour to Gorman Street and Hillsborough Street.

Drivers on eastbound Western Boulevard should also expect multiple 20-minute slow rolls in the work zone.

The road will be closed from midnight to 5 a.m. through Thursday, Dec. 18.
