A man was taken to the hospital after his vehicle collided with an Amtrak train in Selma early Thursday morning.
According to the Selma Police Department, around 12:35 a.m., officers responded to the scene of the crash on Lizzie Mill Road between a Ford F-150 and a southbound Amtrak passenger train.

Their preliminary investigation found that the truck driven by a 46-year-old man—authorities did not provide his name—tried to cross the railroad tracks while the safety guard arms were operational and in the down position.
Selma police said the truck continued to go around the lowered arms and was subsequently struck by the oncoming Amtrak train.
WRAL Breaking News Tracker video footage showed the truck was heavily damaged on the right rear and became wedged onto the tracks following the collision.
The driver of the truck was taken to the hospital after suffering head injuries, but no one on board the train were injured. It's unclear the severity of the driver's injuries.
The "Silver Meteor" Amtrak train was traveling from New York City to Miami. It was delayed for nearly two hours, according to the Amtrak website. It was back on its route by 2:15 a.m.
The crash remains under investigation by the Selma Police Department.
