Person killed in fiery crash on I-85 ramp to I-885 in Durham

A deadly crash shut down the ramp from Interstate 85 to I-885 in Durham early Monday morning.

Durham police said one person was killed in a two-vehicle crash after 3 a.m.

The WRAL Breaking News Tracker was at the scene as emergency responders blocked the southbound ramp to I-885.

Both cars were destroyed in the crash. One of the vehicles was tangled in the trees and on fire when officers arrived, and the driver was declared dead at the scene.

Another car in a ditch was heavily damaged. That driver was in stable condition, police said.
