A person was killed and three others were injured Saturday night in a crash that closed a stretch of Interstate 885 in Durham.

The crash was reported around 11 p.m. on I-885 near Exit 13 for Interstate 85, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol (SHP). One of the cars was traveling the wrong way on the ramp, and the two cars crashed head-on.

Each car had a driver and a passenger. One person died, and the others were injured, SHP said.

The road was closed for several hours but reopened by 3:30 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
