Clayton man arrested after allegedly stabbing mother to death

A Clayton man was arrested Monday morning for allegedly stabbing and killing his mother, Clayton police said.

Michael Sanders, 43, is charged with the first degree murder of Robie Sanders. Police found the elder Sanders with multiple stab wounds when they arrived shortly before 10 a.m. Monday at the Heritage Court Apartments on E. Main Street. She was 65.

Authorities plan to perform an autopsy on Robie Sanders on Tuesday at the Chief Medical Examiner's Office.

I made entry through the back door; I am challenging the suspect.

I have one male detained. 

There is no threat to the public, and police are investigating this incident.
