Power restored after outage in Lee, Moore counties

Power has been restored to thousands of residents in Lee and Moore counties.

According to Central Electric Membership Corp., there were multiple outages in West Sanford, Carthage and Cameron on Tuesday night. The company's outage map showed over 4,000 without power at one point.

Power was restored before midnight. 

Central Electric told WRAL that they traced the cause of the outage to a "transmission error" on the side of the company's transmission provider, Duke Energy.

Duke Energy customers also experienced outages, with more than 5,000 customers without power at its peak.

Duke Energy and Central Electric customers had power restored before midnight. 

According to a Duke Energy spokesperson, the outage was caused by one of their transmission lines in the area.
