An Oxford man was arrested on assault and drug charges one day after a pregnant woman was assaulted.
According to Oxford police, around noon on Tuesday, officers responded to a fight and a report of shots fired on Watkins Street.

A pregnant woman who had been physically assaulted was located at the scene. The woman was treated by EMS and transported to a local hospital, where she remains in stable condition.
No one was shot, police said.
Police identified 26-year-old Rashawn Johnson, of Oxford, as a suspect. Johnson was arrested on Wednesday on Goshen Street and charged with assault on a pregnant woman and domestic violence.
Police used a search warrant at Johnson’s home, where they seized a firearm and narcotics. Johnson faces additional charges of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, larceny of a firearm, possession of a stolen firearm, possession with intent to manufacture, sell and deliver a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Johnson is being held without bond at the Granville County Detention Center.
