The Raleigh Convention Center unveiled renderings of its coming interior expansion.
The project includes an 18,000-square-foot ballroom, a 50,000-square-foot flex hall and 13 meeting rooms. The Raleigh Convention Center said the designs kept spacing and seating arrangements in mind to promote personal gathering and sharing.

"We’re not just adding footage to add footage, so much thought and intention went into this to build something that was beautiful, functional, and exactly right for Raleigh and all the people who our venue bring here," said Kerry Painter, Executive Director of the Raleigh Convention Center and Performing Arts Complex.
The expansion will bring the facility's total square footage to 798,100 square feet. The project is expected to cost nearly $400 million and take years to construct.
The project is part of an ongoing tranformation of downtown Raleigh. It includes the newly renovated Lichtin Plaza at the Martin Marietta Center for the Performing Arts, the new Red Hat Amphitheater in 2027 and a new Omni hotel in 2028.
Construction on the convention center expansion is scheduled to begin at the end of 2026 and is expected to be complete in 2029.
