A man died after a motorcycle and pickup truck collided Thursday night in Raleigh.

According to the Raleigh Police Department, the crash happened on Gorman Street near Walnut Creek Parkway just before 10 p.m.

Police said 55-year-old Michael Wickham was driving a Toyota Tacoma when he approached a stop sign on Walnut Creek Parkway. He slowed down but did not come to a complete stop before turning left in front of a motorcycle, and the vehicles crashed.

The motorcyclist, 22-year-old Mario Eduardo Argueta Barrios, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries before he died, according to police. His family shared a gofundme page. 

Wickham stayed at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, police said. He was charged with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle and failure to yield the right of way.

Gorman Street was closed from Thistledown Drive to Walnut Creek Parkway and reopened a little after midnight.

The investigation remains ongoing.
