According to a new search warrant uncovered by WRAL News, a day later, on Aug. 16, Raleigh police officers responded to a call of shots fired into a home on Hayling Drive, located in a southeast Raleigh neighborhood off Sunnybrook Road.
Security video showed six people exiting a vehicle and approaching the home on foot, with some carrying what appeared to be rifles, according to the warrant. When several of the people opened fire, the audio captured in the surveillance video depicted several different firearms being discharged, including sound consistent with the fire of an automatic weapon.
The video showed the six people run back to the same vehicle they arrived in and flee the area. Approximately 86 shell casings were recovered.

Surveillance video showed two individuals firing several rounds into the home before fleeing. Approximately 72 casings, consisting of a mix of pistol and rifle calibers, were recovered.
Ballistic testing found all three homes were struck by the same type of bullet, according to the search warrant. Officers with Raleigh's gang suppression unit believe the people living in the homes on Hayling and Brandycrest were targeted by a street gang called "Wicked."
The gang name is believed to be in remembrance of an October 2023 homicide victim whose street name was "Wicked."
Further information in the warrant suggests that, over the past several months, a violent gang-related feud led to multiple shootings in the city of Raleigh. One man, Anthony Woodard, was arrested on gun charges following the shootings. Raleigh police said he is a known member of "Wicked."
This investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected, according to police.
