The celebration of life for a Ravenscroft teacher who was killed earlier this month is being delayed due to potentially dangerous winter weather.
According to a letter from the school, the celebration of life for Zoe Welsh will now take place on Sunday, Feb. 1. The school said the decision was made based on the threat of "inclement weather" and out of an abundance of caution for the Ravenscroft community.

WRAL meteorologists are expecting intense winter weather on Saturday, when Welsh's celebration of life was originally slated to take place, and on Sunday. As of Tuesday, much of the forecasted precipitation is expected to be a mix of snow and rain.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation said the ice threat coming with the storm could make roads dangerous, while Duke Energy said they expect possible power outages.
Welsh was killed earlier in January at her home on Clay Street. According to 911 transcripts obtained by WRAL News, Welsh told 911 dispatchers that someone had broken into her home before she was hit with a brick while she was on the call.
Police later arrested Ryan Camacho, who had a lengthy criminal history, and charged him with Welsh's murder. There is no indication if Camacho and Welsh knew each other.
Support began pouring in for Welsh shortly after her death, with former students describing her as a teacher who led with love and kindness.
The celebration of life is closed to the public.
