Lockdown lifted: Gun tip delays dismissal Durham's Riverside High for 3rd time in a month

For a third time in less than a month, Durham's Riverside High School was locked down Monday afternoon.

Dismissal, scheduled for 4:15 p.m., was delayed by about a half hour, and students were held in their classrooms.

Durham Public Schools spokeswoman Crystal Roberts said the school got an anonymous tip that someone had a gun on campus, but that tip turned out to be unfounded. 

Lockdowns were issued at the school under similar circumstances on Nov. 19 and Dec. 3. No weapon was found in either case. No one has been identified as having made the threats, and no one at the school has suffered any injuries.
