People who live east of Raleigh could see up to 10 inches of snow over the weekend.
On Friday, plow trucks were lined up and ready to go outside the City of Rocky Mount Environmental Services site.

Officials told WRAL News crews have been preparing for the storm since Thursday morning. Brine and salt trucks finished treating roads on Friday. Crews put out about 12,000 gallons of brine, salted and sanded 32 bridges, and treated 257 miles of city streets.
Once snow actually accumulates, officials said public works crews will run 11 snow plows with a few spares in case they are needed.
"Luckily, we had recently ordered a large amount of salt, we stocked up on our salt for our brining operations. We stocked up on our sand. We had enough trucks ready,” said Tim Farmer, Rocky Mount director of public works. “We're doing a combination of our leaf collections right now in these winter months, so we just convert the trucks over, install the plows. It’s quick turnover, so we just bounce back from the ice and jump on the snow."
WRAL meteorologists are forecasting 5 to 10 inches of snow in Rocky Mount. Officials said crews will be working around the clock closley monitoring trouble spots that could be extra slick.
The town of Cary also prepares for the incoming blast of winter weather. Officials said crews have replenished 2,000 tons of salt, 400 tons of salt/sand mix, and over 400 staff members ready to respond throughout all operational departments.
Once snowfall reaches one inch, officials said Cary’s A+ Team will blow and treat roads in priority order.
Officials are urging people to stay off the roads until conditions are cleared.
