A major intersection in downtown Rolesville could reopen as early as this week.
The intersection of Young and Main streets was set to reopen on Tuesday, but was delayed due to weather.

While the work itself is complete, the final inspection needed by North Carolina Department of Transportation crews to activate the traffic signal can't occur in the rain. The inspection is planned for later this week as soon as the weather allows.
After the inspection, the traffic lights will blink for about three days before going fully operational.
The stretch of road from Main Street to Perry Street reopened to the public more than a week ago. It was one of the final steps before the town can reopen the intersection of Young and Main streets.
The road work is part of the town's Main Street Project, a $22 million project to build mixed-use developments, expand housing options and make road improvements. It's part of a goal to turn Rolesville into a destination with a thriving Main Street.
Construction began in the Main Street area last year and hit some delays after "unforeseen underground utility conflicts were found." The full project is planned to be done in Spring 2026.
"The Town of Rolesville is constantly moving forward. We are investing millions of dollars along Main Street to create a walkable, downtown destination for residents, visitors and businesses. We are also in the process of creating a Town Campus that will feature a brand-new public library, police station, fire station, town hall, and community center," Rolesville's Economic Development Director Mical McFarland told WRAL earlier this year.
There is also a 116-acre park and athletic complex being built along US 401. This park will have baseball, softball and multipurpose fields as well as indoor and outdoor event spaces, a dog park and an agritourism/historic preservation area.
