A crash on Friday along Interstate 40 in Sampson County sent four people to the hospital, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.
Several people sent photos to WRAL News of drivers stuck on the road for hours along I-40 in near N.C. Highway 24. According to NCDOT, the interstate was closed at Exit 364 near the Turkey area due to a crash on the interstate.

According to the State Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 5:02 p.m. after a tire separated from a 2007 Toyota Yaris while it was traveling east on I-40. The Toyota then ran off the road and hit a guardrail, causing the vehicle to roll before coming to a stop in the westbound lane of the interstate.
A WRAL viewer posted a video of drivers waiting outside their vehicles while they were stuck in traffic, and reported that helicopters arrived at the crash site.
Troopers said two young people from the back seat of the car were ejected from the car. Four people, all of whom were in the Toyota, were taken to the hospital, but the severity of their injuries is unknown.
As of 7:30 p.m. Friday, all lanes of I-40 in Sampson County are back open.
