13 school children escorted from crash scene near Holly Ridge Middle School

Authorities helped escort school children from the scene of a crash on Friday.

The crash happened along Holly Springs Road near Holly Ridge Middle School.

Sky 5 flew over the scene. Holly Springs police said first responders escorted 13 school children from the scene. The children had minor bumps and bruises, police said.

A van  went down an embankment off Holly Springs Road.

First responders took the driver away in a stretcher and then into an ambulance to the hospital.

The town of Holly Springs said the vehicle is from Magnolia Montessori Academy and the students attend Pine Springs Prep.

The town said several other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Pine Springs Prep is notifying parents whose students were in the van, and they were able to pick students up at Pine Springs Elementary School.

The Holly Ridge Elementary School principal, which is near the crash, sent an email to families on Friday. The principal said the van is not part of the Wake County Public School System and the students in the crash are not in the district either.

The principal wrote that all students are safe.
