Nash County Public Schools says it is working to diagnose and repair air conditioning outages affecting several schools across the district.

In a Facebook post Wednesday night, the district said its maintenance department responds when an air conditioning issue is reported and begins working on repairs. They also said school staff are monitoring temperatures inside affected buildings throughout the day.

The post did not specify which schools are affected by the outages.

NCPS said schools may adjust the use of classrooms and other spaces to help keep students and staff comfortable while repairs are underway.

"Our maintenance department serves schools and facilities across the entire district, and our teams are working around the clock to prioritize and respond to issues based on the needs at each location," they said.

NCPS said it will communicate directly with affected families if conditions require changes to the school day or normal operations.

WRAL News is working to find out how many schools are affected by these outages and whether there will be changes to the school day as a result.
