People are mourning after a Granville County high school student died in a car crash Monday morning.
Creedmoor police said Emma Wallace, a student at South Granville High School, died in a crash on U.S. Highway 15 near Oxford. Police said her father is an school resource officer at Creedmoor School.

"She was a valued member of the South Granville High School community and participated in both the volleyball and softball teams," the Creedmoor Police Department said.
South Granville High School principal Ashley Clark said Wallace's death will be felt by the entire school community.
"Our hearts are broken," she said.
Creedmoor Police Chief Troy Wheless said the loss of Wallace is being felt deeply by those who knew her, including her classmates, teammates, teachers and the people whose lives she touched.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Wallace family, Emma’s friends and teammates, and everyone in our community who is grieving this devastating loss,” Wheless said. “We are thankful for all the support that we have received from our community.”
Police said they would share more information about memorial services and school-based support measures once the details are available.
The school system said it is providing support to students and staff in the meantime.
"The district as a whole and the staff and students of South Granville High School are grateful for the outpouring of support from the entire Granville County community. We appreciate the community partners who helped care for our students and staff today. Our district will continue to provide support services as we all grieve," it said. "Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers."
