Southern Nash High School returns to normal operations after online threat investigation

Deputies are investigating after an online threat was made against Southern Nash High School on Friday.

According to Nash County Public Schools, the school was placed under a secure status around 12:45 p.m. after administrators received an anonymous tip about a threat.

During a secure status, students and staff stay inside the building, exterior doors are locked and entry and exit are restricted while classes continue, the school district said.

NCPS said the sheriff's office and the State Bureau of Investigation responded as a precaution.

The secure status was lifted shortly after 2 p.m. after investigators determined the threat was not credible, the school district said.

Sports activities will continue as scheduled Friday evening, Sheriff Stone said.
