Threat at Hillside High School in Durham prompts temporary lockdown

A lockdown was in effect Thursday at Hillside High School and Durham School of Technology due to a threat, according to Durham police.

The lockdown was reported around 9:45 a.m. The Durham County Sheriff's Office is leading the investigation. The lockdown was lifted sometime after 10 a.m.

Sky 5 flew overhead at 10 a.m., showing multiple law enforcement officers outside the school.

Classes don't begin at Hillside High School until later in August, but students and staff are on campus Thursday due to different extracurricular activities and practices.

Durham School of Technology is attached to Hillside High School.
