Hundreds lose power, traffic blocked on Leesville Road in Raleigh after tree falls on power pole

Part of Leesville Road is closed and power is out for hundreds in north Raleigh after a tree fell on a power pole early Friday morning.

A tree fell and began leaning on a power pole near Leesville Road Elementary School. Police said Leesville Road was closed between Kingsland Drive and Country Trail while crews replace the pole. 

Duke Energy reported roughly 550 people lost power in the area.

"Drivers are advised to avoid the area and seek alternate routes while crews replace the pole," police said.
