Interstate 85 has reopened on Thursday after a tractor-trailer crash in Durham County spilled bags of cement on the roadway.

A tractor-trailer carrying bags of the powdery substance overturned around 5:30 a.m. near Exit 174 A for U.S. Highway 15/501. The two left southbound lanes were closed for several hours.

At 6:30 a.m., the truck was towed away, but crews were cleaning up pallets and bags on the side of the highway and the shoulder. Heavy delays remained at 7 a.m., but the lanes reopened around 7:30 a.m.

Sky 5 flew overhead at 6 a.m., showing the bed of the truck stretched across multiple lanes.

WRAL News was told at the scene that the driver was injured, but police have not confirmed that information.
