The Cumberland County Sheriff's Office has identified an off-duty deputy who died after being shot at a home Friday in Hope Mills. 

Deputies said Captain Adam Bean died during a dispute with another off-duty law enforcement officer. The sheriff's office said deputies were called just before 11 p.m., to a shooting call at Seattle Slew Lane.

When deputies arrived, they found Bean with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The sheriff's office also did not provide details on the status of the other person. 

Deputies said the circumstances are under active investigation, with the assistance of the SBI. This incident was not random, and there appears to be no threat to the public, according to the sheriff's office.
