Wake Forest police are looking for the people who vandalized several areas of the Dunn Creek Greenway between Wednesday evening and Friday morning.
The vandals spray-painted messages on the pavement, fencing, curbing, signage and in the tunnel of the greenway.

Crews are working to clean and cover the graffiti, but officials say that permanent removal and adding new signage may cost more than $1,000 and delay the opening of the next phase of the trail.
“We were within just a few weeks of opening Phase 3,” said Project Manager Nick Nolte. “It’s disappointing that someone would deface these amenities at the expense of the Town and the people who have been looking forward to enjoying this new addition to our greenway system.”
Two new phases of the greenway are planned to add 1.8 miles of of trails from the Dunn Creek Greenway north of Dr. Calvin Jones Highway to Ailey Young Park and the greenway network in the Traditions neighborhood.
Anyone with information about the vandalism is encouraged to contact the Wake Forest Police Department at 919-554-6150. Police promise callers can remain anonymous.
“Protecting our amenities is a shared responsibility, so we can only hope that anyone who knows the person responsible will come forward,” Nolte said.
