A person is dead Thursday after deputies from Wake and Harnett counties attempted to serve an arrest warrant outside The Domain apartments on Wallingford Road.
According to the Wake County Sheriff's Office, deputies were there to arrest someone wanted in Harnett County. Wake County deputies said while they were trying to serve the warrant, they heard shots from inside the building.

At least a half dozen officers with long guns wearing tactical gear approached the ground-level entrance of a two-story apartment building around 3:15 p.m.
When they finally got inside, they found the suspect dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. No one else was inside the residence.
Within minutes, deputies had strung crime scene tape around the building.
Within half an hour, the tension had eased, crime scene tape was taken away and the scene largely cleared.
The Wake County Sheriff's Office said they had no additional information to add.
