A stretch of Tryon Road in Raleigh will remain closed much of this week as crews work to repair a sewer main break.
On Monday, traffic was being diverted eastbound beginning at the intersection of Tryon Road and Brisk Gallop Way. The city of Raleigh said the detour will take drivers left on Avent Ferry Road, right on Lake Dam Road then back on Tryon Road.

According to Raleigh Water, the eastbound lanes of Tryon Road are expected to remain closed through the rest of the week.
Raleigh Water released the following statement:
"Raleigh Water's sewer maintenance crews are on-site to perform emergency repairs to a major sewer main break. A full road closure is required to ensure the safety of crews and the public due to the nature and scope of the repair work."
Westbound traffic is not impacted, and surrounding sewage and water services should not be impacted by repairs, according to the city.
There is a chance the road could reopen ahead of schedule, Raleigh Water said.
