Officials said staff are working with the city of Raleigh to determine the full scope of the issue and work toward restoring service.
With the help of the city of Raleigh, water services have been restored to all impacted areas.
A spokesperson with Raleigh Water, who supplies water to the town of Zebulon, told WRAL News Sunday afternoon that because it's a major NCDOT road, they are waiting to get for estimates to get it back to DOT specifications.
The spokesperson said they are hoping to get the road opened back up before rush hour on Wednesday.
"It could be sooner than that, but that's just a buffer," the spokesperson said. "All of that stuff has to set and dry a certain amount of time."
Drivers are asked to avoid the area. There are two detours available:
Vehicles traveling west on W. Gannon Avenue: Take a right on Worth Hinton Road, left on Green Pace Road, left on Water Plant Road to take them back to W. Gannon Avenue.
Vehicles traveling east on W. Gannon Avenue: Take a left on Water Plant Road, right on Green Pace Road, right on Worth Hinton Road to take them back to W. Gannon Avenue.
