Hours-long standoff ends with SWAT walking 83-year-old woman out of Wayne County home

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office said an 83-year-old woman is now in custody after a 6.5 hour standoff at a home on Friday.

It comes after deputies attempted to serve a warrant on East Evans and Whitley Church roads around 4:30 p.m. Negotiators were able to get the woman out of the house after 11 p.m.

At one point, deputies said she had a gun pointed at them. Deputies said they were able to obtain the gun safely.

WCSO said additional details will be sent out after the woman is processed in Wayne County.
