A Weldon man was shot and killed in a shooting Saturday night near an apartment complex in Halifax County.
According to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Weldon police responded to a shots fired call near the Dogwood Park Apartments.

Officials located 38-year-old Moncrinique Clements on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was taken to ECU Health North Hospital and later airlifted to ECU Health Greenville. Clements died at the hospital the next day, deputies said.
The Halifax County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
