After months of construction, the roundabout on White Oak Road in Garner partially reopened on Monday. However, the construction project is not over.

Town of Garner officials told WRAL News on Monday that the roundabout's completion was phase 2 of the project to improve congestion on White Oak Road. Now, contractors will begin phase 3.

People living near the project told WRAL News the construction noise has not only been a problem, but also a traffic nightmare.

“It got so loud you couldn’t even think straight,” said Jane Ward, who lives on White Oak Road. "I didn’t know where to go, because they left me in the dark.”

People are taking to the town of Garner's Facebook page, sharing their concerns about the ongoing project.

One person posted, "This looks very confusing." Another post said, "So much traffic on White Oak, looks like a poor idea."

Phase 3 will include adding a 'slip-through' lane for traffic traveling northbound on White Oak. As of now, construction is scheduled to be complete by the end of the year.

Town officials are asking drivers to proceed with caution, as White Oak Road is still an active construction site, and to take note of the new lower speed limits. Officials said updates on the White Oak Road project can be found on the town of Garner's website
