A court document shows three of the four charges were dropped against a former North Carolina county elections official who was accused of drugging his granddaughter's and her friend's ice cream.
James Yokeley Jr. still faces a felony child abuse charge. The two counts of felony contaminating food or drink with a controlled substance and felony possession of Schedule I narcotics charges were dropped, according to a court document filed Dec. 22.

In August, Wilmington police arrested Yokeley for allegedly putting pills in his 16-year-old step-granddaughter’s and her 15-year-old friend’s Dairy Queen blizzards.
Yokeley resigned as chair of the Surry County Board of Elections in August following his arrest.
The Dec. 22 court document states there was “insufficient evidence to warrant prosecution” after lab testing confirmed the “substance was not a controlled substance under (state law). ”
