Wilson police are investigating after a man was found dead on Monday.
Officers were called at 6:25 p.m. to Chase Road for reports of gunshots. When they arrived, police said they found 34-year-old Darryl Jay Barnes III dead.

As of Tuesday, police arrested and charged 25-year-old Anthony Atkinson with one count of murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon in connection to this shooting.
Atkinson was taken to Wilson County Jail under no bond.
Police said this is believed to be an isolated incident, and the investigation is still ongoing. Police did not provide any additional information on how and why they charged Atkinson.
