CHAPEL HILL, N.C.-- Two UNC Chapel Hill football players involved in a traffic stop are listed as "Out" for this weekend's game at Clemson University.

C.J. Sadler was pulled over for speeding on Tuesday night. He was cited. During that traffic stop, passenger and teammate Keeyun Chapman was charged with gun and marijuana possession.

When announcing the results Thursday of an internal investigation into the culture of the UNC football program, the school noted Chapman was suspended indefinitely from the team and mentioned the traffic stop.

But there was no mention of Sadler.

WRAL Investigates went through the list of the other players listed as "Out" for this weekend. We found two of them, like Sadler, have a history of speeding.

Freshman Vodney Cleveland has two speeding tickets this year, including one earlier this week for going 66 in a 45.

In February, he was charged only with excessive speeding, despite an estimated speed of 100 mph. 

Fellow freshman Carnell Warren has 3 speeding tickets since February, including on back-to-back days in June.

In one of those stops, he was also charged with reckless driving for going 71 in a 35, though that charge was later dismissed.

"I would hope if people are acting out, right, that there are consequences," UNC biology professor Mark Peifer told WRAL in reaction to the school's internal investigation.

Peifer called for more accountability for football players in a previous WRAL Investigation into speeding and repeated parking in handicapped spots on campus.

Peifer added, "You need to expect the kids to live up to the kinds of expectations that somebody who's a Carolina student and Carolina athlete should live up to."

We haven't found any players in WRAL's previous reporting on speeding who have missed games. That made us wonder about this week's player availability list.

We asked UNC three questions:

     1.   Are those three players out for injuries-- or disciplinary reasons.

     2.  Were all three available for the team's first 2 games?

     3.  Did the players travel with the team to Clemson?

The school would not answer our questions about the players.

Under current rules, UNC only has to create a player availability report for conference games. Carolina's first two games were out-of-conference. We asked the school if there was an internal report it could release. The school only responded by providing the Atlantic Coast Conference's rules.

WRAL checked box scores for Carolina's first two games. Sadler played, but there are no statistics for Cleveland or Warren, so it's unclear if they were "Out" or simply did not play.

Whether their playing status is linked to the speeding tickets or not-- Peifer expects athletes to uphold Carolina's values on and off the field.
