Wrong-way driver crashes into Raleigh power pole; DWI charges pending

A car traveling the wrong way on S. Dawson Street crashed into a utility pole at W. Cabarrus Street in Raleigh early Sunday morning.

Raleigh police said the driver lost control and struck a telephone and power pole. The pole was damaged, but it did not fall. 

The driver was charged with driving while intoxicated and taken to jail. 

Utility workers repaired the pole.
