A Caldwell County Board of Commissioner's meeting turned tense before the meeting started when two commissioners broke out into a fight Monday night.
At the beginning of the livestreamed meeting that aired Monday night, commissioners Jeff Branch and Donnie Potter started off by apologizing to the group after a disagreement broke out between the two.

At the time the meeting was streamed, WRAL News was unsure what the disagreement was until Thursday night when video footage was released to the public by Caldwell County officials showing the fight that occurred at the desks in front of Caldwell County town members and residents.
The video footage shows that an argument began between the two men before the start of the meeting.
Potter can be seen waving off Branch, which prompted the two to get closer to each other's faces. Branch then seemed to have shoved Potter, which heated up with more punching and shoving. The fight continued before security officers rushed in to break it up.
It is unclear what exactly prompted the fight.
Both men remained present for the duration of the meeting. In a livestream of the meeting on Monday, Branch began by apologizing to the group, explaining that the fight occurred because of a "gentlemen's disagreement."
"I hope this was a lesson," Branch remarked. "There's more ways to settle an argument than pulling out a gun or a knife. We settled one, we’re good to go, everything’s fine."
Potter apologized as well and continued after him to say, "Jeff and I don’t always agree, but we need to learn to settle our agreements in a professional manner."
