ECU police investigating sex offense, attempted rape at dorm on campus

East Carolina University police are investigating a reported attempted rape at a dorm on campus, WITN Greenville reports.

ECU’s crime log shows that a sexual assault that was reported through the Campus Security Authority on Friday is now being investigated as a second-degree forcible sexual offense and attempted second-degree forcible rape.

The reported assault happened at College Hill Suites Thursday evening.

ECU police say that the two individuals were voluntarily spending time together and had initially consented to certain conduct, but non-consensual actions followed.

The assault comes just a few weeks after the fall semester began on August 17th.
