GUILFORD COUNTY, N.C. - A new initiatve allows Greensboro residents to pay off their parking tickets by donating supplies to the Guilford County school district.
Donated supplies are kept in a warehouse and teachers across the county can get classroom essentials for free.

The original program was a collaboration between Shift Ed and Greensboro Parking Enforcement. Last year, Greensboro Police took over the program and revived it. They collected over $6,000 in school supplies.
"The average North Carolina teacher spends $1,600 of their own money every year on classroom supplies," said Karen Deal. "So the warehouse is a unique community collaboration that helps lift that burden off teachers."
