A North Carolina woman was arrested on Monday and charged with human trafficking.
Doris Bynum, 53, of Roanoke Rapids was arrested by the Halifax County Sheriff's Department.

Deputies said an out-of-state agency was looking for Bynum in connection to a human trafficking case. She was staying in Enfield during the time of the charges.
According to arrest warrants, Bynum is charged with felony human trafficking an adult victim, felony kidnapping a child under the age of 16 years, for the purpose of doing serious bodily injury to the victim. The offense date listed on the warrant is November 1, 2023.
She is also charged with obtaining property under false pretenses. Warrants state that she obtained $21,422 by making the victim believe in a false debt that was not real.
Bynum is being held without bond and her first court appearance is today.
