ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WMBF) - A North Carolina man is behind bars after evading multiple agencies in a car chase that spanned over multiple counties, according to WMBF.
The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office said 41-year-old Justus Simmons was arrested in connection to an investigation of a shooting at a Maxton convenience store on Jan. 7.

Simmons is accused of shooting a man at the store. The victim was found by deputies and taken to the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
On Thursday, when Robeson County deputies attempted to pull over Simmons in a traffic stop, he refused and a pursuit began. The suspect car evaded multiple attempts from deputies to use stop sticks.
The pursuit eventually came to a stop in Columbus County after the car drove over two sets of stop sticks.
Simmons was taken into custody and is charged with assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury, fleeing and eluding arrest with a motor vehicle, and multiple traffic violations.
He is being held at the Robeson County Detention Center with a $100,000 bond.
The shooting investigation is ongoing, and more charges are likely.
