North Topsail Beach officials warn visitors to avoid public beach access ahead of holiday weekend

North Topsail Beach officials are asking visitors to avoid Beach Access #3, at the north end of Topsail Island.

WECT reported a woman was rescued from the inlet last week. Last month, WECT reported a man died after jumping into the water at the same access to save a child.

"We've seen a lot of people end up in grave danger up there at Beach Access #3," North Topsail Beach Police Chief Andrew Page said. "Regardless of the conditions, don't get in the water there. It's too dangerous."

More signage will be added to the area to warn swimmers to stay away from the inlet, police say.
