Wilmington woman elected for third term as first female NC NAACP president

At the 82nd State Convention, delegates voted Deborah Dicks Maxwell as president for the third term. Maxwell is the first female president in the state's history. She previously served as president of the New Hanover County chapter.

The North Carolina State Conference National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) has reelected a woman as president following its 82nd State Convention, WECT reports.

Deborah Dicks Maxwell of Wilmington was reelected for her third term as the first female president in North Carolina’s history. Delegates from across North Carolina came to the conference to cast their votes.
