A dog was shot and killed by a Mecklenburg County Sheriff's deputy after four people were attacked by a pack of dogs in northwest Charlotte.

WCNC Charlotte reports the attack happened on Woodcock Lane. A Mecklenburg County deputy in the area saw a group of dogs attacking a woman as her husband attempted to intervene. Three additional people were also hurt in the attack, officials said.

The deputy fired a shot at one of the dogs, which caused the other dogs to disperse. The dog that was shot died at the scene. The other six dogs were later captured.

Officials have not identified the owner of the dogs. No charges have been filed.
