The Raleigh City Council said Tuesday that it will ask local lawmakers to sponsor legislation to push the municipal elections set for this October back to November 2022.
City officials need data from the 2020 census to redraw five council districts – two other council members are elected citywide – and the Census Bureau has said that data won't be available until September, making an election this fall all but impossible.
