Matt Joyner, director of human resources for Nashville, North Carolina, told WRAL News that he and the town's police chief were both suspended from their jobs after he filed a complaint.
Joyner said the issue he has with Police Chief John Winstead is a personnel matter that does not impact public safety.

"It doesn't involve any cases," Joyner said.
He said he was "retaliated on" for the complaint he filed, although he did not go into detail about what that complaint was.
Winstead did not return calls from WRAL News.
Both men were suspended with pay on Sept. 27, according to town Councilmember Louise Hinton.
Joyner said he expects an internal investigation into his complaint to be complete by the end of the week, then for the town to call in him and Winstead to present their findings and decision. He is planning to return to work at the town unless they move to prevent him from doing so.
