A traffic stop led to a multi-county chase in which three deputy vehicles were hit by a fleeing suspect.
The chase began with a traffic stop in Lee County on Monday. Deputies stopped Shane Evander Anthony, age 23, who attempted to flee the scene.

During the chase, marijuana, credit cards, and other items were thrown from the vehicle.
Anthony continued fleeing into Moore County, and the Moore County Sheriff’s Office, Vass Police Department and NC Highway Patrol assisted with the chase.
The chase ended in the vicinity of Cedar Lane and Old Jefferson Davis Highway after Anthony’s vehicle struck three Lee County Sheriff’s Office Patrol vehicles.
There were no reports of injuries.
Anthony, who is from Greensboro, was arrested and charged with the following:
- Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Government Official (Felony)
- Flee and Elude Arrest (Felony)
- Injury To Personal Property (Misdemeanor)
- Possession of Marijuana (Misdemeanor)
- Possess Drug Paraphernalia (Misdemeanor)
- 18 Traffic Related Violations
Anthony was placed into the Lee County Jail under a $50,000 secured bond.
The investigation is ongoing regarding the credit cards that were located and seized.
